DIY "Frenchy" covered dining room chairs
We began a remodel on our kitchen....and I realized these dining nook chairs had to go!
I knew it was going to be quite the process to get the look I wanted....but would be beautiful in the end, and match my new "farmhouse" kitchen (to be revealed soon!)
Here is the BEFORE....{and still not all that bad...just not my "look" anymore}
and the AFTER:
First of all, I had to remove ALL the nail tacks from both the front and back side of each of my six chairs....probably 1000 :(.....
Next, I found this awesome large stencil at Hobby Lobby on sale for $4.99!
I mixed some white and black paint that I already had....and used Home Depot drop cloths I bought for $8.99 (covered four of my chairs).
Next I used numbers stencils I cut out on my silhouette, but also saw similar large number stencils at Hobby Lobby if you don't own a silhouette.
I then stretched the newly stenciled drop cloth over the chair, and stapled using my hubby's staple gun. It turned out looking like this.....I kind of "winged" it on this and cut as I went.
Next, was the fun part.....I found a really easy way to add the nailheads back to the chairs...it is a strip of nickel nailheads that you nail every 5th one....you can find them here.
and there you go! VOILA!......
now only 5 more to go!
cost breakdown:
1. drop cloth from Home Depot $8.99 (I used two for six chairs)
2. paint-white & black acrylic mixed $0- I had this from a previous project
3. staples for staple gun - I already had these from my husband's workbench :)
4. Stencil from Hobby Lobby $4.99 on sale
5. 50 yards of Nickel Nail Trim from Diyupholstery $63.99
Have a fantastic day!
